Estate Planning for the People You Love

If you're here, you're thinking about how to take care of the people who count on you. That's the first step.

Most people put off estate planning because they don't know where to start. My job is to explain your options in plain language and help you put a plan in place that fits your family.

I'm Jeni Snider, and I help families in the Raleigh area and across North Carolina put plans in place so that if something happens, their family knows what to do and who is in charge.

If Something Happened to You Tomorrow, What Would Your Family Face?

It's not an easy question, but it's an important one.

Without a plan, the people you leave behind may have to:

• Wait on the probate process before they can access what you meant for them

• Guess at what you would have wanted, and sometimes disagree about it

• Ask a court to decide who makes medical or financial decisions for you

• Handle all of this while they are grieving or scared

A good plan won't make a hard time easy. But it gives your family clear instructions, the authority to act, and a much simpler process for settling your affairs.

How I Can Help

Wills and Trusts.

A will states who receives your assets after you pass away and who you want to be in charge of the court’s probate process. A revocable living trust can do more: it can keep your estate out of probate, keep your affairs private, and let someone you trust step in smoothly if you can't manage things yourself during incapacity.

Minor Care Planning.

For parents, naming a guardian in your will is only one piece. I help you plan for the first hours after an emergency, the long term, and everything in between, so your children are with people you chose.

Advance Health Care Directives and Powers of Attorney.

Documents that name who speaks for you, medically and financially, if you can't speak for yourself, and that tell them what you'd want.

Asset and Estate Tax Protection.

For families who want to protect what they've built from creditors, lawsuits or estate tax, I'll walk you through the options that make sense for you, and tell you honestly when they don't.

Long-Term Care Planning.

Planning ahead, for yourself or an aging parent, so the cost of assisted living or nursing home care doesn't use up your savings.

Young Adult Planning.

Once your child turns 18, you lose the legal right to see their medical information or help with their finances. A few simple documents change that.

Help Settling an Estate or Trust.

If you're responsible for a loved one's estate or trust, I can help you with the estate administration and trust administration.

Planning for Every Kind of Family

Married with kids. Single parent. Blended family. No children. Partners who aren't married. Every family is different, and your plan should fit yours. Before I recommend anything, I want to understand your family and your goals.

A Plan That Keeps Up With Your Life

The biggest reason estate plans fail is simple: they're signed, filed away, and never looked at again. Then life changes. Kids grow up, marriages begin or end, people move, laws change.

I don't want that to happen to your plan. Every year, I reach out to ask whether anything in your life has changed. Every three years, I sit down with you to review your full plan at no charge. And whenever something big happens in between, I want to hear from you. For families who want more ongoing support, I also offer a VIP Membership Plan.

Why Families Work With Me

I take time to know you. Your plan starts with a conversation, not a form.

You'll know the cost up front. Flat fees, agreed on before we begin, based on the plan you choose, not your net worth. No hourly billing.

I explain things clearly. You'll understand what you're signing and why.

I stay in touch. Signing your documents is the start of our relationship, not the end.
